This weekend my best friends and I are going spending the  weekend in NYC. As summer comes to a close, a mini vacay seems only appropriate.

*Update: due to mother nature’s poorly timed storms, we had to reschedule. See you in September, New York.

If you need one more reason to love J.Crew, read this NY Times article about the company’s Creative Director and President, Jenna Lyons. She can turn a chambray shirt, glitter heels, thick-rimmed glasses and a trash bag into chic inspiration. But how does she do it? Teach me your ways.

I’m a big fan of Friday’s (shocking, i know). There’s something about the end of a work week and the beginning of a free weekend that makes me giddy. May the fist pumping commence.

Pretty People (sister store to Annie Creamcheese) opened up just blocks away from my work. Their jewelry is da-vine.

Degas’  sculpture, La Petite Danseuse de Quatorze Ans, mesmerizes me every time.

mosaic mirrors.

Last night my mirror fell from the wall. At first I was worried that I would be cursed with 7 years bad luck, but as it turns out, only a small piece from my Ikea mirror chipped off.

Naturally, I used this mirror sprain as an excuse to seriously consider purchasing a replacement. I’ve had my eye on two mosaic mirrors from Pier One and  I may  be inclined to indulge.

how to be a 20-something.

(even as a rare reader, I love.)

A friend sent me the link to  Ryan O’Connell’s “How to be a 20-Something“. The post had me laughing, agreeing, and even pushed me into some deep thought.

Moments that I found particularly striking and relevant, as of late:

  • Move into an apartment on the corner of Overpriced and Dangerous.
  • Figure if you’re not going to be successful, who the hell is?
  • Think about having children when you stop acting like a child.
  • Regardless of the outcome, feel proud of yourself for being able to love someone in a healthy way.
  • Start your twenties with a lot of friends and leave with a few good ones.

here’s to good advice,

I’ve been watching a lot of The O.C. lately. I was envious of Rachel Bilson’s character, Summer, in high school and I think some of the jealousy is starting to reappear. She’s just so cool.
