“Eyes closed or open, just dream. No matter how wide awake to the world I am, I dream. I dream of moments. At a party. On the red carpet. I dream while lounging at home or running errands midday…Right there, a dream will start. I run with my imagination, letting it play out all sorts of scenarios…Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise: dreaming is an absolutely required activity.” -Rachel Zoe

here’s to dressing for the job i want,

(similar to this gal)

After mindless venting over a glass of wine, my friend persuaded me into some retail therapy. While in the dressing room the sales associate presented me with a dress that had been hiding in the back of the store and was marked down from $158 to $29.99. SHUT UP. Hand over the dress.

It fit like a glove. The sales associate stared at me, grinning ear to ear, then looked at me in the eyes: “now twirl.” I was in love.

When I checked out I discovered that the dress was actually $9.99. Yes, I saved $148 on a made-for-me dress that I never would have found if it weren’t for some serious customer service (thanks anthro!).

here’s to dress fairies,

orange you glad.

I’ve been trying to cut back on senseless shopping, and I can proudly say I have been making an honorable effort. That is, until an orange skirt with a gold zipper stood in my way. Gold zipper, people. Since 95% of the clothes I wear are for work, I know this skirt will definitely get some mileage and prove to be well worth the money.

(doesn’t do the beauty justice)

(power wedge)

I started my current career  just days after graduating from college, and ever since then have tried to find my rhythm. While in school, I had my study and work habits down to a science, and I knew just how long I could procrastinate while still achieving my desired grade.

With the long work days I find myself getting overwhelmed by the to-do lists, or feeling dragged down after a big assignment. So, this week, I am implementing the 50/10 rule. Work for 50, break  for 10.  Ten minutes may seem like a stretch for a break, but I’ll use this time to complete a quick task, reorganize my desk which gets cluttered quickly, update Twitter, check on my favorite blogs, or read some news headlines.

You know, for sanity’s sake.

here’s to good pens,

bid adieu.

Guys, i’m breaking up with Starbucks. Well, taking a break from it at least. I gave into the Starbucks empire and let their lattes take over me emotionally and financially, but today I had a breakthrough. After reloading my Starbucks card (hey, it gives you a discount) and taking a sip of my wrong order I was legitimately angry. Which might be the silliest thing to get angry about.

So, I’m weaning myself off. Saving a few bucks. Letting my body caffeinate in less expensive ways.

It’s not even that great. Yeah, I said it.

here’s to whining,

In swoon on July 16, 2011 at 7:38 am

I have thin hair. Like really thin hair. As my locks leave me stranded (pun intended), I have noticed that my hair feels a bit greasy after my daily showers, like my hair just can’t absorb all the goopiness of shampoo and conditioner.

So you know what I did? Wait for it, wait for it…

I nixed the conditioner and bought a light volumizing shampoo and my hair is looking strong as an ox. Is that an awkward comparison?

(perfectly imperfect hair)

Thanks for being proud of me and my achievements.

here’s to being hairy,

blue aversion.

I’m really not a fan of blue. That may be a bit extreme, it’s just that blue has never been a color that I have been attracted towards. Pinks and yellows just tug at my colored heart a bit more. But, as of late, you know what blue has pulling my interest?

(wait, maybe i am a fan of blue?)*

I still claim that blue drinks, in particular, disgust me. I‘m looking at you, blue curacoa.

here’s to changing my palette,
