vacay.

In summer on June 26, 2011 at 10:20 pm

I just returned from a week long vacation and oh my goodness, it was needed. For sanity purposes, everyone should take a vacation or fifteen every year.

my week, in summary:

  • finding shelled amphibians during morning beach walks
  • drumstick souvies from the band
  • lingering scents of crab and shrimp
  • juice box breaks with the neph
  • beach naps forcing you to wear coverups for days
  • competitive apples to apples
  • beer and sangria in massive quantities

(capri, my current love)

During the warmer months I make sure to incorporate bright colors to my daily ‘drobe. Nothing compliments seasonal hues like pinks, blues and yellows.

While it may not seem work appropriate (I’ve received many looks with my polish choices), I type on a keyboard all day, so I appreciate having colorful nails dancing across the keys.

(happy birthday to them)

When i was a young tot I watched Full House with my Michelle doll in hand. When I was a pre-teen I saved my babysitting money to join their Fun Club. I cried when they were on Oprah. My mom sent a copy of their book to me when I was studying abroad because it came out a month later in Europe and I couldn’t wait.

I don’t know why I love the duo so much, but I wave my MK&A lovin’ flag high and proud.

No matter what type of week I am having, nothing beats a Thursday evening. Usually filled with drinks and laughing until way too late, the groggy and snail-paced Friday mornings are totally worth it. Just the kind of monotony that I love.

parisian dreaming.

(sunflowers from monet’s garden)

During my junior year of college I studied abroad in Paris. It was a childhood dream, one which I managed to achieve by eating my weight in crepes and baked goods, going on touristy walks until my feet bled, and falling in lust with a frenchman. Now, years later, I have been itching to go back. I look at my pictures and journals entries, or reminisce with friends I met abroad and my heart aches…I need to go back.

Jordan from Oh Happy Day! is having a dream giveaway – A TRIP TO PARIS! Naturally, I freaked when I found out. I didn’t want to tell you about the trip because I am greedy and wanted the odds in my favor, but it’s a form of entry and will increase my chances of winning to 1/1000092910101.

Monthly Desk Calendar(monthly desk calendar)

I can’t believe it’s already June. It seems like I was just cleaning Valentine’s Day decor and toasting on St. Patrick’s Day. This year is moving by quickly, and I’ve hit a hump in motivation to achieve a few tasks. Hopefully by documenting these to-do’s I will be more likely to achieve them? If not, I’ll delete this post and we will pretend like goals were never set.

  • build a headboard. my room has floor to ceiling windows. depending on the season, my pillows are freezing or toasty.
  • work out 2x/week. my 30-day shred stopped at 3 days.
  • eat less pasta. and realize one box does not equate to one serving.
  • get my eyebrows waxed. one highschool wax job gone wrong has kept me bushy browed.
  • find art for my room. my small, bare wall is in needs of color.
